The Lake Tahoe Derby Dames Roller Derby League is holding an open recruitment night on Tuesday, January 3^rd at 7:30pm at Kahle Community Center. Information on joining the Tahoe Derby Dames as well as an opportunity to skate will be available. We’re looking for energetic men and women interested in learning the sport of flat track roller derby as a skater or referee.

Modern Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby is a growing international sport which includes a mixture of full-contact skating, great athletic training and an awesome grass roots do-it-yourself attitude. You’ll meet other locals with fantastic names and a great athletic attitude all here in South Lake Tahoe!The Dames offer general training for the new-on-your-skates to the well seasoned derby girl transferring to our great neck of the woods. Practices are co-ed (offering everyone the chance to skate) while bouts follow the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA/www.wftda.com) guidelines.

Equipment borrowing is on a first come/first served. Please bring a mouth guard.

Double Header, Double Trouble! September 17th!

September 17th the Tahoe Derby Dames are hosting a double header! First bout starts at 2pm and the second bout starts at 4pm. With the help of our awesome fans we would like to finish off the home season undefeated. Bring your lawn chair, a tasty sandwich, and settle in for a day of fishnets and hard hits. No need to bring a cooler Brothers Bar & Grill will have plenty of cold ones for sale.

Tickets are $10 at the door or $8 from your favorite derby skater or at South Tahoe Standup Paddle. Bring a school supply donation for the Girls and Boys Club and get a free raffle ticket at the door. That’s right we need pencils, we need notebooks, and teachers get in for just $5 (*proof required).

The Tahoe Derby Dames have won there first two homes bouts this season. Third on the list are the Central Coast Rough Diamonds. August 20, 2011 the gates open @ 4, and the bout starts @ 5.

Knock Knock… Derby Calling!

The weather in Tahoe is fabulous and the skating is fast and fierce. All of the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears have been in preparation for this July 9th bout against the Nor Cal Roller Girls. This is the second home bout of the season for the Tahoe Derby Dames and guaranteed to be a grudge match like no other. On the road, away from their fans, the Dames lost by a narrow margin to this team earlier in the year and they are now looking to capture a win at their home track in front of their fans. Coming off a win during the June 11th bout, these women are focused and determined to battle their way to victory!

As an appreciation to the amazing fans we are offering $8 pre-sale tickets. As a skater run organization we couldn’t do what we do without the support of our fans. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from any derby girl. Mark your calendar for July 9th. Gates open at 4pm and the bout starts at 5pm. Tickets are $10 at the door and kids 10 and under are free.

The Lake Tahoe Derby Dames B Team will be traveling this month to take on the Sintral Valley Derby Girls June 25th in Ripon, CA. If you are in the area stop by and support the Dames!

Comprised of newer skaters this team shows real promise in their ability to work as a team and communicate during the fast paced game of derby. As a testament to the fast growing sport of derby the Lake Tahoe Derby Dames have been able to create this second team to foster newer skaters. If you are interested in playing roller derby or interested in the sport of roller derby we welcome you to come out to our fresh-meat practice at Bijou Community park Monday night from 6-8pm.

Test your arm strength and dunk a derby dame at the Tahoe Derby Dames fundraiser this Saturday June 18th. The fundraiser will be held at Brother’s Bar and Grill located at 888 Emerald Bay Road.
